It's fluffy enough to actually pick up the powder and be gentle on your face, but it's dense enough to actually deposit color without making you look like you just dunked your face in a bowl of powder. I totally feel where you are coming from here. I had a 187 and a kabuki brush for a really long time, so if I needed that medium amount of coverage, I was kind of screwed. Haha, for a while, I would use my kabuki, but only put powder on half of it. It worked pretty well, if you want to give that a try. But then I bought a 150, and it's just about all I use now. My advice is to apply with clean fingers, and use a sponge, beauty blender or foundation brush to blend in the edges, if necessary.
